Worship in Action Sundays invite us to worship God through what we do together—prayer, presence, creativity, learning, and public witness—rooted in faith and responsive to the world around us.
A Pastoral Word on Worship in Action
Worship shapes who we are—and who we are becoming. Each week, we gather to pray, sing, listen, and hope together. And just as importantly, we are sent out to live what we proclaim: to love boldly, seek justice, and walk humbly with God.
Worship in Action Sundays are an invitation to let worship take on embodied form—to move prayer into practice, faith into action, and love into the world God so deeply cherishes. These gatherings are not about doing one thing the “right” way. They are about offering ourselves, as we are, to God’s work of justice, compassion, and hope.
Some may feel called to public prayer or visible witness. Others may engage through quiet prayer, creativity, learning, or advocacy. Each of these is faithful. Each is worship. Together, they bear witness to a faith that does not remain confined to words, but takes shape in presence, courage, and care for our neighbors.
Worship in Action is not about pressure or performance. It is about trust—trusting that God meets us not only in the sanctuary, but also in action, solidarity, and shared commitment to love our neighbors well.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Laura

Worship in Action Sundays
How It Works & How to Participate
Last Sunday/Month @ 10:30am
What Happens on a Worship in Action Sunday?
Worship in Action Sundays are worship experiences shaped around embodied faith. Rather than gathering for a traditional service, we move directly into prayerful action rooted in scripture, reflection, and communal discernment.

Each Worship in Action Sunday follows a consistent rhythm:

-
Gathering & Grounding – A brief opening to center us in prayer and scripture
-
Invitation to Participate – Clear guidance on the day’s focus and options
-
Worship in Action – Time spent in prayerful, embodied practices
-
Shared Sending – A blessing that holds us together as one worshiping body
The entire gathering takes place within our usual one-hour worship time.

Ways to Participate
Every Worship in Action Sunday offers multiple paths of engagement, recognizing that people are called in different ways.

Scheduling & Livestream Information
Worship in Action Sundays are offered about once a month, usually on the fourth or last Sunday of the month. When high and holy days fall near the end of the month, the date may shift. Dates are always communicated clearly in advance.
Because these gatherings center on in-person, embodied practices, Worship in Action Sundays are not livestreamed. Regular livestreamed worship continues on other Sundays.

Why We Practice Worship in Action
Worship in Action grew out of prayerful discernment at an officers’ retreat, as leaders reflected on how our faith calls us to respond faithfully to our neighbors and the wider world.
In light of ongoing injustice and harm experienced by vulnerable communities, we believe worship can form us not only through words, but through action, presence, and solidarity rooted in the gospel.
