Pastor and Head of Staff
Rev. Laura Batten-Carbaugh
Rev. Laura Batten-Carbaugh has served as Pastor of Colesville Presbyterian Church since November 2022. A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, she brings over twenty years of ministry experience in a variety of pastoral leadership roles.
A pastor at heart, Laura is passionate about forming communities rooted in faith, shaped by justice, and grounded in love, seeking to live out the call to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.”

Church Treasurer
Darci Pickering
Darci has been a long-time church member and served in various leadership positions before taking on the role of Church Treasurer. ​​The church treasurer oversees the fiscal management of the church, working with the Administrative committee, Pastor, and session.

Music Coordinator and Organist
Kyle Pedrick
Kyle Pedrick, Organist and Music Coordinator, originally from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, started taking piano lessons at age 8. He attended West Chester University where he studied piano with the late Dr. Vincent Craig. Kyle became a Montgomery County Public Schools teacher in 2019. He has taught at 5 schools part-time, and is currently the full-time general and choral music teacher at Mill Creek Towne Elementary School. He took a semester of organ lessons while at West Chester, but is mostly self-taught. Before moving to Maryland, he was the Director of Music and Organist at Paoli United Methodist Church in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

Choir Director
Eric Beomjin Kim
ERIC BEOMJIN KIM is a doctoral student and graduate assistant in choral conducting at the University of Maryland, where he serves as assistant conductor of the Chamber Singers and Treble Choir, and director of the Maryland Palestrina Choir. Eric introduces himself as a “nomadic conductor;” he has led performances with his ensemble Empathy across South Korea, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Iran, the Philippines, Romania, Kazakhstan, and the United States.
Eric holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Choral Conducting, graduating with distinction from Westminster Choir College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Taylor University.

Administrative Associate
Mary Ellen Cain
A native of Arkansas, Mary Ellen earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Rhodes College in Memphis and a master’s degree in vocal performance from The Catholic University in DC. She has done administrative work at several local churches and has also been the alto section leader and soloist at the National Presbyterian Church and Washington Hebrew Congregation for many years. When not working or singing, she enjoys visiting with friends and with her four grown children and two grandsons who all live in the metro area.

Communications Coordinator
Isela Sanchez
Isela Sanchez serves as Communications Coordinator at Colesville Presbyterian Church, supporting clear, creative communication across the life of the congregation. She works with staff and ministry teams to share CPC’s story through digital and print platforms, including social media and the website.
With over six years of experience in social media marketing, Isela has helped small businesses and nonprofit organizations build engaging and effective online presences through thoughtful content and strategy.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with a minor in Technology Entrepreneurship, from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Abha Phillips
Vocal Scholar Abha Phillips is an undergraduate voice major at the University of Maryland. We are delighted to have her joining our choir as a Soprano Vocal Scholar!

Joshua Pelzer
Vocal Scholar Joshua Pelzer is an undergraduate voice major at the University of Maryland. We are delighted to have him joining our choir as a Tenor Vocal Scholar!
