About

Eric B.J Kim

Conductor, Voice Educator

ERIC B.J KIM is a conductor and educator specialized in community building and empowering non-professional voices. As the Founder and Artistic Director of the Seoul Empathy Choir, he has been at the forefront of community music-making, leading eight consecutive summer camps for children and youth since 2018. He is an expert in transforming amateur ensembles into vibrant musical communities, currently leading a collaborative team of 20 staff members dedicated to this mission.

His expertise in growth and engagement is best showcased by his tenure at St. Paul Parish (NJ), where he expanded a vocal studio tenfold, growing it from 4 to 40 students through his unique ability to connect with young singers. Whether working with children or adults, Eric’s approach focuses on removing the fear of judgment, allowing every participant to find their authentic "voice."

Eric holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy and Choral Conducting (graduating with distinction) from Westminster Choir College and is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the University of Maryland, where he serves as Assistant Conductor of the Chamber Singers and Director of the Maryland Palestrina Choir specializing in early music.
