CPC Garden for All
May Update

May is here and the garden is beginning to grow! We have begun to plant cooler weather plants in the main gardens. These includes sweet potatoes, white and red potatoes, onions, broccoli, cabbage and carrots. Some of these plants you will begin to see and others are still germinating. The herb garden, along the backside of the church, has also started to grow. Some of these herbs-oregano, thyme, nasturnium, chives, and lavender-came back from last year and are already in abundance . We will begin to plant more herbs in the coming weeks as well such as basil, rosemary, dill and more. As the warmer weather starts, we will be planting peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash and eggplant around the building. We will not be having a mass planting day as we did last year but each upcoming Sunday, you can find that planting and watering happens before and after church. You may also see some fencing added in the coming weeks to keep critters out of our veggies! Take a walk around the church and see what is growing. Herbs and veggies will be available each Sunday as the growing season continues!

The WIND Brings Good Futures to CPC
Session established the WIND (What Is the Next Direction?) Team to lead the process by which CPC will identify the direction for the future. The WIND Team has been reviewing various approaches and has settled on the Good Futures Accelerator as the best tool for this project. Good Futures was developed by Rooted Good and has the support of PCUSA. The WIND Team will lead CPC through the seven-step Accelerator process over the next several months.
Currently the WIND Team is familiarizing itself with the Accelerator materials. Part of the first process step is to identify stories of innovation at CPC. Uncovering stories of past changes fosters hope for the future — i.e., we’ve successfully implemented changes before. An innovation almost all of us can identify with is the introduction of live-streamed services in response to the pandemic. Each WIND Team will identify an innovation story and talk with members to collect additional examples, both recent and further back in CPC’s history. What innovation can you think of? What was its impact, both immediate and longer-term? The WIND Team would love to hear from you.
