Nursery Attendant
Ministry Purpose: To provide safe, secure, nurturing, clean, and efficient care to our children ages 0-4. Ministry responsibilities include playing with the children or directing their play, reading to them, praying with children, and exhibiting patience and love.
Pay Scale: $14.44 per hour, cost of living increase annually
Job Description

Responsible for age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, sitting with, and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, crafts, and play.

Polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, and volunteers.

Arrive 15 minutes prior to nursery opening.

Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.

Stay until all children are secured with and signed out by a responsible adult.

Straighten room, empty trash cans, and clean/disinfect any used toys, beds, or surfaces before leaving.

Attend annual evaluation.

Work holidays that fall on Sunday and may be asked to work additional hours during busy times, i.e., Holy Week or Christmas Eve.

Abide by Colesville Presbyterian Church (CPC) safe church policy.

Report to the Christian Education Committee, Director of Christian Education (DCE) (or new Associate Pastor) and Personnel Committee, who will conduct job performance appraisals every six months.

Provide accurate and up-to-date contact information to church office.

Communicate in advance, by phone to the Nursery Coordinator, DCE (or new Associate Pastor) or Personnel Committee any absences.

Planned absences must be given two weeks ahead of time.

In the case of last-minute illness, she or he must contact the Nursery Coordinator or DCE by phone one hour prior to her or his shift so a replacement or volunteer may be found.
Requirements:

Experienced in the care of children 0-4 years of age with the ability to adapt and interact with a variety of personalities/characteristics.

Good references.

18 years of age or older.

Willing to submit to background and drug screenings.

Must present the results of a current (within one year) Tuberculin test and current immunizations.

Must have current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR training/certification for infants and children or be willing to complete a CPR course at CPC’s expense.
