Welcome to Colesville Presbyterian Church
.

“Come to Christ, a living stone…chosen and precious in his sight, and let yourselves be built into a spiritual house…whose cornerstone and foundation is Jesus Christ our Lord.”
(I Peter 2:4-6)

“The LORD is my strength, the reason for my song, because he has saved me.
I praise and honor the LORD—he is my God and the God of my ancestors.”

(Exodus 15:2)

As a church of Jesus Christ, we strive to be a church that:

  • Gives a sense of warmth, love and joy to all who enter;
  • Worships and celebrates God with praise for God’s mighty works
  • Thanks God for God’s daily gifts through music, words and prayers’
  • Nurtures each individual as a child of God as revealed in Scripture;
  • Teaches about living a Christ-like life;
  • Shares a responsibility for the social and spiritual welfare of the family, the community, the country and the world;
  • Expresses faith through acts of kindness and service
  • Builds on the Presbyterian and Reformed heritage of the past by focusing on the future
Christ says, “Come follow me.” Come, share the journey with us and help us be
the church of Christ in the 21st Century!

Senior Pastor (Interim), Ken Eimer & Jonah

Following a period of careful and prayerful deliberation, the Interim Pastor Search Committee recommended Rev. Kenneth Eimer to the CPC Session as our Interim Pastor.  The Session met with Rev. Eimer and voted to enter into a contract with Ken beginning September 1, 2009.

A member of the National Capital Presbytery, Ken comes to CPC after successfully completing an interim pastorate at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church.  Ken has his Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and an M.A. from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration.  He has been certified by our denomination for interim work and holds certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains.

Before coming to Maryland, Ken worked as an interim pastor at Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Henderson, Nevada and has worked in congregations in Indiana and in the metropolitan Chicago area. CPC marks Ken’s eighth interim pastorate.

Interim Pastoral Associate, Aaron Frank

Aaron comes to Colesville by way of Alexandria, Richmond, Holland (Michigan, that is), and Chicago. Aaron grew up outside of Chicago in Palatine, Illinois.  He swam and played water polo competitively in high school and college. At Hope College, in Holland, Michigan, he studied both English Literature and Religion, while also taking a Philosophy minor. Aaron attended Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Aaron's primary interests at Union were in theology and ethics. He was a member of the Institute for Reformed Theology, a group that gathers scholars, pastors and students for in-depth study and discussion of specific topics. Aaron's group was entitled, "The Reformed Tradition and Public Ethics." While at Union, Aaron volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and participated in a Central America Immersion Seminar. Aaron also spent a summer in Grand Teton National Park as a Chaplain, preaching amongst the trees and mountains to visitors from around the nation and the world.

Following Seminary, Aaron served as Ministry Intern at Westminster Presbyterian, in Alexandria, Virginia. While at Westminster, he assisted the ordained staff working in every aspect of the Church, including preaching, youth groups, missions and teaching. Aaron was accepted into the Master of Theology program at Union but chose not to return to school, and instead found work with U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman in Washington, DC, as a congressional intern. He then joined Pillsbury Winthrop, and later Hunton & Williams as a Paralegal. Aaron has enjoyed these diverse experiences, but has always retained a sense of call to ministry. He has been active at his home church, New York Avenue Presbyterian, teaching, preaching and serving as liturgist as often as possible. In coming to Colesville, Aaron hopes to begin the process of returning to full-time church ministry. He looks forward to the coming year and the many opportunities we can share.
