In God we live, move and have our being!

MISSION STATEMENT

(from "Holy Motion:Energizing and Building Community Through Song and Dance", published by the Office of Youth Ministry Program team in the Congregational Ministries Division, a minisry of the General Assembly Council, PC(USA)

As God's redeemed creation in Christ, we believe that we are gifted with both work and play as part of our worship. Believing that Christ came that we would have abundant life, this resource, through the Holy Spirit is designed to encourage communities of faith to celebrate the freedom to love God and each other with our whole selves; hearts, minds, and bodies in response to God's love for us. Holy Motion will do this by:

Providing a variety of movements, music and styles of leadership!

Encouraging participation of all of God's children--regardless of ethnicity, ability and social context!

Using music, energy and motion to create a community where participants experience a sense of belonging and corporate worship!

Offering a resource that provides practical and theological as well as VISUAL helps for understanding, learning and leading energizers and movement pieces.

Providing a resource for energizers which are easily adapted to a variety of settings, group sizes, age groups, and abillities.

Encouraging leaders to cultivate a safe environment that empowers participants to express themselves freely.

To understand themselves as leaders who EMPOWER the community by recognizing the tensions between:

Empowerment vs. performance
Community vs. individual
Enabling vs. entertainment

At CPC, Holy Motion is used to gather together the Sunday Night Live Group (3rd-5th graders) and the Middle School Youth for energizer dances and songs on Sunday evenings from 5 to 5:30 pm in the Sanctuary. We are blessed to have adults and youth (Middle and High School) who share their gifts for leading energizers and songs for this fun mix of recreation and worship! Energizers come from the "Holy Motion" book and youth conferences. Songs come from a vareity of song books like the PC(USA)s "New Song" and "Sing The Faith" and several of the popular "WORSHIP NOW" books of contemporary and classic praise music.

Holy Motion is open to all ages! and a great way to be in community with God and God's people! Come and join us!
