Vision Statement for the Mission & Social Concerns Team
The Mission and Social Concerns Team inspires, encourages, and guides this congregation both as individuals and as a Church family to actively do good deeds in service to the world.
As a means of doing so we will:
Maintain a global vision
- Increase awareness of the congregation of the needs of God’s people resulting from natural disasters and human causes.
- Live out God’s command to be good stewards of the Earth and all of creation.
- Encourage the congregation to participate in hands-on global mission projects.
- Promote products which give a fair return to the originating workers.
- Seek out, evaluate, and participate in partnership opportunities with overseas Presbyterian missions.
- Seek out and engage in activities that allow us to contribute to the work of feeding, clothing, and sheltering God’s people.
- Seek and develop partnerships in our local community to work together on issues and projects of common concern.
Empower our Church family
- Help members of the congregation to identify, develop, and fulfill their individual and collective calls to do God’s work.
- Nurture a culture of social awareness in which all members of the church family, younger and older together, actively dream and work side by side to create a community of service and social consciousness.
- Promote greater collaboration between this Team and the youth of CPC including establishing more intergenerational mission projects.
- Actively seek new ways to ignite active participation in mission and social activism.
